Harpist Barbara Bew
Crowley
~
Harpist Barbara Bew Crowley
commenced her study of harp at age
sixteen with world renowned
harpist Carlos Salzedo.
Thereafter, Barbara continued her
study with acclaimed harpists Edna
Philips, Alice Chalifoux and
Lucille Lawrence.
Trained in the classical
repertoire, Barbara decided about
ten years ago to diversify her
musical presentations and started
studying popular harp with the
late Robert Barlow and later with
Raymond Pool in New York City.
"Musicians never seem to stop
studying" says Barbara, and "the
result is significant."
As a result, Barbara can present a
strictly classical program, or a
totally popular presentation, or a
combination of both, a challenge
to which not all harpists can
commit.
Barbara taught music as elementary
education in both the Ocean
Township and Eagleswood Township
schools for many years.
Now it's simply, "Have harp, will
travel!" she quips.
